Awaken The Warrior Spirit In You!
There’s the spirit of The Warrior in all of us,
and it doesn’t mean putting on armor and picking up a sword! We all have a strong, confident side to our nature, and that is what The Warrior I Asana is meant to focus on.
Taking into consideration that the Sanskrit name, Virabhadrasana, is derived from the name of the ancient warrior, Virabhadra, the energy of this asana is pure Yang. That doesn’t mean women are excluded!
There are times in life when we all take up a weapon, figuratively speaking, and fight for a cause. Whether that’s applying for that promotion or walking back into the classroom after many years…..we all need to call upon the inner power we possess to muster up courage and take positive action.
Achieving ideal form with Warrior I is not a quick or easy task. It’s moves are simple, as is so with most of Yoga moves, but reaching the desired physical alignment and posture may take time, especially for the beginner.
Do not despair. Reach down inside of yourself and find the Warrior within you, take a deep breath, and begin again.
My Yoga article at BellaOnline gives you proper instructions to perform Warrior I.
Enjoy reading, friends! And…..
Exsisto a bonus proeliator!

I went to the BellaOnline site and it’s really nice. You’ve got a lot of good information there. Can you recommend any stretches that will help when I’ve been riding my bike a lot?
I have a subject category at Bella for Yoga Stretches. All of them are helpful to athletes, but the Spinal Roll might be helpful for bikers after they’ve been riding. I’ll be continuing to post stretch articles throughout this month so if you check back every week or sign up for the Chakra Chatter newsletter, you’ll find stretches for legs and feet.
Good luck!
I’ve been practicing Yoga for almost 20 years and I don’t know how I’d manage the stress in my life without it. Do you have any particular articles on breathing techniques? I’m always looking to learn more.
I’m so glad you enjoy the site! Yes, there are articles on Pranayama. Here is a link to one: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art63698.asp
